A Tampa man known in the gay community has been accused of drugging and sexually assaulting several
men. According to an indictment unsealed this week, Steven Lorenzo, of W. Powhatan Ave. in Tampa, is
charged with six counts of "knowingly and intentionally distributing for human consumption a substance
containing a detectable amount of gammahydroxybutyric acid, also known as GHB, and gamma-butyrolactone,
also known as GBL." The two substances are often referred to as "date rape drugs".
According to
police, 45 year old Lorenzo boasted on the internet, about drugging six men with G.H.B. prior to sexually
assaulting them. The drug can cause victims to pass out and have memory loss of the event. In some cases
the drug can induce coma. According to police the crimes happened in Tampa over the last four years and
detectives believe there may be more victims.
Although the mother of missing man Jason Galehouse
was notified by detectives of the arrest, at this time, police have made no comment on any potential
tie to the disappearances of Michael Wachholtz, Jason Galehouse and Bradley Williams. Wachholtz was
found murdered last year and Williams has been missing since 2001.
Lorenzo was arrested Tuesday,
November 2nd and is being held without bail. If convicted, Lorenzo faces 20 years in prison for each
count. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can contact the Tampa Police Department
at (813) 276 3779.
