The old gay beach called "Bedrocks" after the gay bar that once stood there (it looked like a Flinstone's building) is still frequented by family.

Go to St. Petersburg 5th Ave exit.  Go west until it dead ends. Turn left, then right at the light, over the bridge.  This road will dead end at the beach, with the Thunderbird Hotel directly in front of you.  Go left.  Stay to the right. Veer off to the right at 7-11.  The beach is about 4 blocks down on the right.  It has a large concession stand/ restroom buiding and a large parking lot to the left.  Bring quarters for the bridge and the parking meters.

Directions
The gay beach is located in Ft. DeSoto Park at the southern tip of Pinellas County (St. Petersburg). Follow I-275 to the Pinellas Bayway exit (#4) and proceed west, following signs to Ft. DeSoto Park. Once in the park, follow signs to the North Beach and park in the last parking lot. Walk a short distance, crossing the "Rainbow Bridge" and wading across a shallow lagoon.
